My experience in organizing the work of a theater group is three years. I started working with second grade students and continued working with the same kids in third grade. Having moved to work in another educational institution, she organized a theater club based on an extended day group, where children from the first grades were gathered. I'll tell you about how it all began.
In connection with the implementation of the Federal State Educational Standard, 10 hours of extracurricular and club work are allocated for each class. When choosing the type of activity that I could offer to students in my class, I analyzed the areas of work already organized in our school. It turned out that various sports sections were working, choral singing and arts and crafts classes were held, but there was no theater club. Consequently, this area of work could be mastered.
Now it was necessary to enlist the support of the students' parents. At the parent meeting, I spoke about my intention to conduct theater classes in the next school year. I explained why this club was needed, what goals and objectives I set for myself and the guys. My parents supported me.
I have no professional theater education. Once upon a time, as a student, I attended classes in a puppet club at the House of Pioneers in the city of Severodvinsk. She took part in puppet shows and performed on stage with other children. But that was a long time ago. Therefore, during the summer holidays, I read literature on the topic of organizing a theater group and studied already compiled work programs. It was important for me to determine the types of work that can be used in organizing classes, to build the structure of the class itself, and to understand what result can be achieved at the end of the first year of work. Based on this, I created my program. The circle was called “Theater Box”. (Annex 1)
Now I knew in what directions the work of the theater group was structured. These are: the basics of theatrical culture, rhythmoplasty, culture and technique of speech, theatrical acting and work on a performance. I studied the goals and objectives of each area of work, and became familiar with what results in my work I should strive for.
But with the construction of a specific lesson, the situation was more complicated. I encountered the following problem: not all proposed types of work were interesting to children. The most significant and interesting for the children were: articulatory gymnastics, breathing work, pronouncing tongue twisters, working with pantomimes, dialogues in poetic form and games aimed at creating images of animals, people or any objects. Using these types of work, I built the structure of the lesson.
Tongue twisters, themes for pantomimes, as well as various exercises for articulatory gymnastics were not difficult to find. It turned out to be more difficult to find interesting dialogues in poetic form. The guys remembered such dialogues more easily and it was more interesting for them to work. When working on a poem, it was possible to change partners, and, in this case, the dialogue took on a new coloring. I typed the text of these poems in colored font, highlighting the words of each character in a certain color. One sheet usually contained 4 dialogues in verse. The number of sheets corresponded to the number of students. (Appendix 1, Appendix 2)
I also looked for scripts for performances in poetic form. The website of Olesya Emelyanova helped. There I found the scripts for the fairy tales “Turnip” and “Teremok”. I printed sheets with fairy tale scenarios using the same principle: I typed the words of different characters in different font colors. Each character's words corresponded to their own font color. One of the difficulties in working on the play was the distribution of roles. Everyone wanted to play the main roles and other winning roles (from the guys’ point of view). I had to explain the peculiarity of each character, the uniqueness and attractiveness of his image. Two casts of actors were preparing for the performance. At rehearsals, they could replace each other, and also see from the outside the performance of roles by other actors, notice successful intonations and movements.
In the process of work, I watched how children changed. How difficult it was for them to work on breathing, how difficult it was for them to pronounce tongue twisters, how unusual it was to liberate themselves when working with pantomime, how nervous they were when going on stage (the space in front of the board) to show a skit or a separate image. There were children who came to classes and for a long time from the last row simply watched the work of other children. But over time, these children also began to take an active part in the work of the circle: just like everyone else, they performed pantomimes and participated in skits. I often organized work in classes in pairs, and in pairs of rotating members. Thanks to this, no one remained excluded from the general activity, and the children could see the creative abilities of all classmates, learn from each other intonations, movements, and acquired the ability to negotiate. Later, the guys began to conduct articulation gymnastics themselves and come up with images for pantomime. They began to try new intonations and change the behavior of their characters. Before working on new images, the guys and I gave a description of each character, following which we tried the appropriate intonations and manner of his movements. During classes, we often returned to the scenes we had already studied, acted them out, analyzed what each pair of actors did well, and what we could still work on. It was clear that the children were rehearsing at home, trying to show the character in the scene in a different way at the next lesson, with different intonations, with a different manner of behavior. New images often looked good and found support and approval among the circle members.
The reporting event was a New Year's concert for parents, which consisted of skits (dialogues in poetic form) and the play "Teremok". Parents of students helped prepare for this performance. They selected costumes for the heroes of the fairy tale, made a mansion out of plywood, behind the walls of which all the characters were placed. This mansion could fold up when the bear had to destroy it. Everyone was happy with the concert: both children and parents.
Later we showed the fairy tale “Teremok” to the first-graders of our school. Then, on 02/09/2017, an open lesson was shown to the students of the part-time advanced training courses “Activities of a teacher-organizer (senior counselor) in the conditions of standardization of education” at JSC IEO.
The work of the theater group was successful. Children's participation in theatrical activities influenced the enrichment of children's vocabulary and the development of creative abilities. The children learned to improvise, fantasize, imagine, interact with people, be able to make choices, and find a way out in various situations. Features of the classes
The plan for a theater club should be drawn up depending on the psychological characteristics of the children and their age. Classes will allow children to develop in various directions: musical, theatrical, choreographic, psychological.
